The Gulen movement has built hundreds of schools worldwide, including those in northern Iraq that Kirk studied. Construction on those schools began about six years after the 1988 massacre by Saddam’s government of more than 150,000 Kurds and other ethnic groups in the region.
“If whoever touches him is screwed, it should have been me who would have gotten screwed first; I should have been in ashes by now because I have published the harshest material against Gülen. I have published the most derogatory books against him.”
Bülent Arınç met with Nigerian officials and also visited Nigerian Turkish International College and Nigerian Turkish Nile University. “I am proud of the achievements of Turkish schools in the international arena,” Arınç said during his visit to Nigerian Turkish Nile University.
Inspired by esteemed Turkish Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen, Turkish activists have established intercultural and interfaith organizations in more than 100 countries all around the world. The primary objective of these organizations is to encourage tolerance and build bridges across different ethnic and religious groups.
The GYV was founded in 1994, and the mission and work of the foundation is inspired by its Honorary President Fethullah Gülen. Gülen, known for his teachings of hizmet (service), tolerance and dialogue, has attracted a large number of supporters in Turkey and Central Asia and increasingly in other parts of the world.
