KYM volunteer doctors distribute Ramadan aid in Kenya

The philanthropists from Konya (a province in Turkey) contributed to the aid activities with both their donations and hands-on work during distributions organized by KYM in various countries including Kenya. A team of seven philanthropists, in person, distributed aid to some one thousand residents in the tin house neighborhood in Nairobi and later 300 families in the city Malinda.

The book, Huzurdan Esintiler (Zephyrs from the Presence), published by Işık (Light) Publications in 2012, is a total of 216 pages. The author collected the articles he had previously written for Zaman, a Turkish daily newspaper, and his new articles in this book. The shared subject of these articles written in various occasions is Fethullah Gulen. In this article of both presentation and criticism I will attempt to underline these two matters: Firstly, how does Kurucan describe the conversational environment with Gulen, and secondly, how exactly does the author illustrate Gulen’s portrait?

Turkish benevolent corporations provide iftar meals for thousands of Muslims during holy Ramadan in Jerusalem’s al-Aqsa mosque. ‘Sadaka Tasi’ set iftar meals for a thousand people on the left side of Omar mosque, where Turkish non-governmental organization (NGO) ‘Kimse yok mu’ prepared tables for 300 people on the other side on Friday evening.

Dalai Lama praises sema at Turkish fest in New Delhi

Exiled Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama watched and praised a sema, or whirling dervish ceremony, during a Turkish festival which lasted from Friday to Sunday in New Delhi, promoting traditional Turkish arts and culture. The three-day festival was held for the first time last year, and this year it takes place in the popular Select Citywalk mall in New Delhi. The event was organized by the Indian-Turkish Indialogue Foundation.

Kimse Yok Mu and MASFED to open hospital in Ethiopia

The rough construction of the 40-bed Harari Hospital is finished, but the final outfitting of the facility is still under way. Hospital officials stated that they hope to be ready to open very soon. The hospital was built with funding provided through donations, and charitable contributions will also be the source of its ongoing support. A total of 50 medical healthcare personnel from both Turkey and Ethiopia will serve the people in the Turkish hospital.

Being the conscience of a nation

Fethullah Gulen’s brother Hasbi Gulen, who passed away last October, wanted to visit his older brother in America in late 2000. He shares his intention with a friend before applying for a visa.
His friend told him that he needed to prove financial ability to support himself in the US to obtain a visa. Hasbi Gulen needed to show car and home titles, tax returns, and any other assets he had. When his friend asked “which one of these documents do you have?” Fethullah Gulen’s brother replied “nothing but my birth certificate.”

Fethullah Gulen’s book incorporates the concept of “faith” into those of “service, affection, compassion” and such.

Turkish Charities accelerate Ramadan aid efforts worldwide

Kimse Yok Mu has raised its Turkey target for this Ramadan and will distribute 178,300 food packages and set up iftar tents in 22 provinces in a bid to feed an estimated 636,000 people. Outside of Turkey the foundation intends to distribute 110,000 food packages to families in need in 103 countries and offer iftar meals to 500,000 people around the world.
