Royalties provide Fethullah Gülen with modest income, his lawyer says

Turkish religious scholar Fetullah Gülen makes a living off the royalties he receives from his more than 60 books, the self-exiled Muslim leader’s lawyer has said in response to media scrutiny.”My client has written over 60 books which were all listed among best sellers. He makes a living by copyright income,” said Gülen’s lawyer, Nurullah Albayrak.
Turkish journalist Ayşenur Arslan had previously asked how Gülen managed to live in Pennsylvania based on a retirement pension alone.
“His residence costs are paid by the royalties; he has never taken anything for free from anyone,” Albayrak said in a statement.
“Gülen has diabetes, and he cannot eat heavy foods; he eats just soup and yoghurt most of the time,” Albayrak said, noting that the scholar did not need much money for living.
Albayrak also accused Arslan of defamation by raising doubts in people’s minds about his client, labeling her questions as “non-innocent.”
During a trial focusing on Gülen’s application for a U.S. green card, American prosecutors claimed Gülen had a financial worth of $25 billion that included contributions from the CIA.

In question are serious and grave accusations such as being involved in corruption, stacking money in houses, seeking villas, trying to get rid of millions of dollars… If all of these were just slander, what would a political man with self-confidence do? Wouldn’t he publicly present concrete evidence proving the slander?
Pro-gov’t columnist: Turkish state must assassinate Fethullah Gülen
Fatih Tezcan, a pro-government columnist, said in a video that he is sure the Turkish state had embedded a secret agent in the Gülen movement and that now it is time for him to “terminate” Turkish Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen. During his 1.08-minute video, Tezcan curses the Gülen movement and the US-based Gülen and says that the murder of Gülen is something desired by the entire Muslim world.
Turks Should Question The Official Narrative That Gulen Was Behind The Coup
I am not trying to absolve one side or the other. The coup attempt was a heinous assault on Turkey’s civilian politics and the plotters must be punished in a fashion that deters similar actions in the future. What I am trying to understand is why everyone agrees that Gulenists did it when there is little evidence and that is even questionable.
Turkey, under the autocratic rule of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, has stepped up its witch hunt against the alleged members of Gülen movement abroad, pro-Erdoğan English paper Daily Sabah reported. So far, 16 alleged Gülen followers have been abducted or caught abroad and transferred to Turkey from Asian, Middle Eastern countries and Bulgaria.
