PWTD, Turkish NGO to work for cataract elimination

The Punjab Welfare Trust for Disabled (PWTD) and a Turkish Non-government Organisation (NGO) KIMSE YOK MU on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for making joint efforts for elimination of cataract disease.

PWTD Programme Director Dr Izharul Haq Hashmi and KIMSE YOK MU’s Country Representative Uzjan Ennan signed the agreement on behalf of their respective sides at the ceremony held in a hotel on Wednesday.

Punjab Chief Minister’s Adviser on Health Khawaja Salman Rafique, Punjab Social Welfare Department Secretary Haroon Rafique, Punjab Health Secretary Jawad Rafique Malik, Special Education Department Secretary Ambrin Raza and the PWTD Managing Director Dr Amjad Saqib were also present.

Addressing the ceremony, Salman Rafique said that Punjab government was working round the clock to ensure provision of best medical facilities to the people. On the orders of Punjab chief minister (CM), he added, medical care standard was being improved at Basic Health Units (BHU) and Rural Health Centres (RHC).

Uzjan Ennan said the KIMSE YOK MU was working for elimination of cataract disease in more than 50 countries including Pakistan. “Today, I am happy to launch this great service in Pakistan as well, as it will enable the blind people to see their people and the world,” he observed.

Kimse Yok Mu reaches out to tin houses of South Africa

Kimse Yok Mu recently distributed the Ramadan aid donated by Turkish people in tin house neighborhoods of South Africa.
