Turkish Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen has extended condolences for victims of the coal mine blast in western Turkish town of Soma, wishing speedy recovery for injured workers.
“They were working in the most dire conditions to make the ends meet for their families,” Gülen said about the victims, adding that no word would be a consolation and no word would express the pain of separation. “We can do nothing except pray for them and share their pains with wept eyes,” Gülen stressed.
He wished that trapped mine workers will be saved soon.
Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yıldız said at least 151 workers died in the coal mine blast while hundreds are still trapped inside.
Turkish prosecutor discredits Gülen movement to counterparts in 121 countries
Chief Public Prosecutor of Turkey’s Supreme Court of Appeals Mehmet Akarca has sent letters to prosecutors in 121 countries around the world explaining the failed July 15 coup in Turkey, joining Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in accusing the Gülen movement of masterminding the putsch.
Lawyers, academics say ‘parallel state’ was invented to block graft probe
A total of 150 academics signed the manifesto, titled “Rule of law suspended.” The manifesto says the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) government cannot ignore the corruption allegations just by making up claims of a “parallel state” — which has no meaning in political science or law — and placing the blame on the Hizmet movement, which is inspired by Turkish Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen, for its unlawful practices.
