İzmir’s Yamanlar Schools won 18 golden, 25 silver and 17 bronze medals at the recently held 60th Annual International AMC 8 contest, jointly held by Mathematical Association of America (MAA) and University of Nebraska. 350 thousand students from 6 thousand schools in 86 different countries attended the contest online.
Among those representing Turkey in the contest, Yamanlar’s middle school students achieved 18 golden medals. Those from South Korea, China, Canada, Russia and Taiwan as well got their shares in medals.
Feeling proud by students’ 60 medals, on behalf of Turkey, “The contest by Mathematical Association of America is held in 86 countries with the participation of big-name schools around the world. I’m proud of our students’ outstanding achievement. As the most award-winning Turkish school in international contests, we are competing with the world on behalf of Turkey” Yamanlar Educational Institutions General Manager, Sebahattin Kasap, said.

Turkish Olympiads built on legacy of linguistic, cultural interaction

Teacher arrested after repairman found Gülen’s audio CD in computer
A Samsun teacher, identified as Osman K., was detained after a repairman found in his computer a CD that features speeches by Fethullah Gulen. The audio CD, titled Kalbin Miraci, featured faith-based sermons Gulen delivered at mosques in Turkey in the past.

In a similar development, the Yenişafak daily, another pro-government newspaper fired columnist Süleyman Gündüz for his refusal to toe the newspaper’s line against Hizmet Movement (also known as Gülen movement) led and inspired by Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen.
What Is Next In Turkey?
The generals were never the script writers of the coups but only players. The script writers of the coup on July 15 in Turkey aimed to simulate a coup as if it was staged by the Gulen movement. It was simply a false flag. While only a few hundred soldiers were involved in the coup, more than ten thousand officers were purged and arrested. While the police officers challenged the coup plotters, twelve thousand police officers were fired two months after the coup.
International panel on Mary was held in Istanbul
An international panel, titled “Mary in the Holy Scripture and Qur’an,” was jointly held by the Journalists and Writers Foundation’s (GYV) Intercultural Dialogue Platform (KADİP), the Tevere Institute and İzmir Intercultural Dialogue Center (İZDİM) at WoW Hotel in Istanbul. The two-day meeting was attended by a number of leading scholars and intellectuals of the field and focused on such topics as “Approaches to Mary,” “Debate on Mary,” “Mary Doctrine and its Historical Development.”
