Dialogue Eurasia Institute Opens in Kazakhstan

A new dialogue institute has been launched within Eurasia State University in Astana. The institute, jointly founded by Dialogue Eurasia Platform, Kazakhstan Historians Association, Kazakhstan Theologians Association and Kazakh TV will offer classes on the lives and contributions of influential personalities in the fields of history, politics, and philosophy.

Eurasia University Rector Yerlan Sidikov at the opening ceremony noted that the institute under their umbrella will achieve a lot in dialogue. Kazakhstan Senate Deputy and Dialogue Eurasia Platform Kazakhstan Committee Chair Garifolla Yesim kicked off the class series with his lecture on the major items in Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev’s “2050 Development Strategy”. Speaking of the institute and its missions, Yesim additionally said “I hope this institute, where the people who contributed to humanity and their lives based on peace and tolerance will be analyzed, will inspire the youth, in deed, architects of the future.”

Eurasia University Vice-Rector and DEP Astana President Prof. Dihan Hamzabekoglu said that they seek to introduce globally recognized names to Kazakh students. He also revealed that the lives covered in the institute classes will be published later on. The syllabus includes names such as Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), Nursultan Nazarbayev, Fethullah Gulen, Rumi, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, Yunus Emre and Mahatma Gandhi.

Turkish Day proclamation, celebration planned at Syracuse City Hall

The first Turkish Day in Syracuse will be celebrated at City Hall from noon to 1 p.m. today. Mayor Stephanie Miner will read a proclamation followed by the raising of the flags of the United States and Turkey. The Turkish national anthem will be played. Afterward, folk dances will be performed and Turkish cuisine will be served. Weather permitting, the festivities will be held on the front steps of City Hall, 223 E. Washington St.

Joint mosque-cemevi project launched in Tokat

Turkey’s first-ever joint mosque-cemevi complex has been under construction in Ankara since last September. The project, which is being carried out by the CEM Foundation and the Hacı Bektaş Veli Culture, Education, Health and Research Foundation, was first suggested by Turkish-Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen, who lives in the US in self-imposed exile.
