Global Dignity Day marked in Turkey

The Journalists and Writers Foundation (GYV) organized a number of activities in Turkey to mark the Annual Global Dignity Day, which is celebrated with Global Dignity-led events around the world with the participation of 350.000 young people across 50 countries.

As part of the global marking of the Dignity Day, an event was held in Istanbul with cooperation between the Intercultural Dialogue Platform (KADİP) and Fatih College and in Ankara with cooperation between Ankara branch of the GYV and Nevin Gökçek Girls’ High Schools.

Within the context of the festivities that were kicked off at 11:00 am at the local time of 50 countries including Turkey, events were held in the central campus of Fatih College in Istanbul and in Çankaya campus of Nevin Gökçek Girls’ High Schools in Ankara.

Deputy Patriarch of the Turkey’s Syriac Catholic Church Yusuf Sağ talked to about 200 students in Fatih College’s conference hall while journalist and columnist Orhan Miroğlu lectured to more than 300 students at Nevin Gökçek Girls’ High Schools.

Global Dignity was established to promote “Human Dignity and Justice for All” inspired from the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights and marks the Global Dignity Day on the third Wednesday of October every year since 2008 with participation of young people from around the world.

Some TL 12 billion (about $4 billion) in property has been transferred to the Treasury as part of an investigation into the Gülen movement, said Minister for Environment and Urbanization Mehmet Özhaseki on Thursday. Burc Schools achieve 13 medals in AMC 8

350 thousand students, in total, from 6000 schools around the world participated in this year’s AMC 8, recognized as the world’s most prestigious math contest involving middle schoolers. Among the participating Turkish schools, Adana Burc Schools’ students achieved a notable success by winning 13 medals. Turkey, South Korea, China, US, Canada, Russia and Taiwan constitute the award winning countries in the event.
