Guests Rub Elbows With Senators, Mayors At 2012 Greenville Dialogue Dinner

Close to one hundred guests turned out at the Embassy Suites in Greenville Monday night for the 2012 Dialogue Dinner, entitled “Empathy: Walking in Another’s Shoes.” Guest speakers included Dan Waldschmidt, CEO of Waldschmidt Partners International, S.C. Senator John Wesley Matthews, and Furman Professor A. Kadir Yildirim.

Towards the end of the program, there was a live calligraphy demo by Turkish calligraphy artist, Aydin Cayir.

The South Carolina Dialogue Foundation is a non-profit organization established by Turkish-Americans. Its goal is to promote dialogue among people and towards issues that pertain to their lives. SCDF’s mainstay is to engage in educational activities about social and cultural matters.Founders of the SCDF are inspired by Fethullah Gulen’s philosophy of dialogue and peaceful and constructive coexistence.

That he has a wide following in Turkey (and elsewhere) is not in doubt. As for Erdogan, he can be an Islamist sultan or he can be the democratic leader of a trusted NATO ally. But he can’t be both, and the time has come to make him choose.
