Fethullah Gülen’s Message of Condolences in the Wake of the Western European Floods

I was saddened to learn of the devastating floods in Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and Austria, in which more than 180 people have lost their lives and hundreds of people have disappeared so far.
I offer my condolences and wishes for quick recovery to the peoples of Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands; I ask God to bestow patience and perseverance on those who lost their loved ones.
I pray to God to give strength to the search and rescue teams so that the missing people can be found quickly, and I wish a speedy recovery to the injured.
I invite everyone to support the relief efforts personally, financially and through their prayers so that the affected regions can overcome this disaster as soon as possible.
Swiss investigate alleged Turkish attempt to kidnap businessman
Switzerland is investigating whether Turkish diplomats planned to drug and kidnap a Swiss-Turkish businessman as part of a crackdown after the 2016 coup attempt in Turkey, federal prosecutors said on Wednesday.
Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen has offered his condolences in the death of lawyer Tahir Elçi, who was the president of the Diyarbakır Bar Association, and the two police officers who were killed in a shootout in the southeastern province of Sur, which erupted as Elçi was making a statement to the press on Saturday.

None of this has stopped the government from undertaking a huge, self-destructive purge, with around 10,000 people arrested, 100,000 people dismissed, and the seizure of assets of more than $4 billion, numbers that worry not just human rights activists but foreign investors as well. The government’s fury is understandable but it should distinguish between those who took part in the coup and those who simply belonged to the Gulen movement.

According to German media, the spies write reports on the alleged Gulen supporters and the secretive information is collected from imams of the Turkish-Islamic Union of the Institute for Religion (Ditib). The names of the so-called spies are then reported to the relevant [Turkish] state bodies and consulates.
Erdoğan ‘does not grasp’ separation of powers, MEP says
Andrew Duff, a Liberal Democrat member of the European Parliament, also accused the prime minister, whom he said was “clearly elected democratically,” of not ruling democratically. Duff said the aggravated language that exposes serious rifts between the AK Party and the Gülen movement risks destabilizing Turkey.
Turkish PM heads to Brussels for tough talks with EU
Although the prime minister argues that an ongoing corruption and graft probe engulfing his own ministers is simply a plot hatched by an “illegal gang” that he describes as “parallel state” operated by Fethullah Gülen, a cleric in self-exile in the U.S., EU officials have made clear that such rhetoric has not been bought in Brussels.
