First Lego League qualifier at Brooklyn Amity School

On Saturday, February 4th Brooklyn Amity School became a site where students dealt with all kinds of animals, including alligators, frogs, reindeer, sharks, cows, pandas, bees, and seals. As a host of the First Lego League (FLL) qualifier competition, 11 different schools came to our school. This year, the FLL’s concept was “Animal Allies,” which meant contestants were able to overcome obstacles that involved animals. This allowed students to think and act like scientists and engineers. During the event, each team had two and a half minutes to complete the different challenges. With the autonomous robotsthey built, programmed, and tested, students competed intensely. After several rounds, the day ended with an award ceremony where winners were announced and awarded; our middle school team, for example, won third place and received trophies. The teams who won 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will continue on to the next level and use technology and teamwork to solve problems based on real-world situations.
Turkey’s Erdogan attempts to have Gambia close down Turkish schools
Turkish PM allegedly agreed to give Gambia $500 million to convince to shut down Turkish schools, as part of Erdogan Regime’s plans to crackdown on civil society in Turkey. Arınç says Gülen’s offer to hand over prep schools ‘sacrifice’
Turkish Deputy PM Bülent Arınç has described the offer of Turkish Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen to hand over prep school management to the state an example of “sacrifice” and promised that the issue of prep schools will be resolved in a way that pleases everyone. “God knows that we don’t have an ambition to manage [these prep schools]; our desire is that these services don’t become the causalities of a disagreement,” Gülen reportedly said.

Terrorist PKK targets Gulen movement’s schools in Hakkari
Schools opened by the Gülen movement, inspired by internationally respected Turkish scholar Fethullah Gülen, in the eastern province of Hakkari are often threatened by the terrorist Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), according to an interview by the T24 news portal. The first private school the Gülen movement in Hakkari was opened in 2007. There are currently 300 students at the school, Hatice Avcı College.
In Georgia the Shahin Friendship School facing closure – Political influence?
The R. Shahin Friendship School in Batumi, among the most in-demand schools in the whole country, was denied authorization by the General Educational Authorization Council of Georgia. Fingers are pointed at Turkey’s Erdogan as he is increasing political pressure on the countries where his arch-rival, Fethullah Gulen, still maintains a foothold.
