Russian academic and intellectual Rostislav Ribakov praises Turkey’s prominent Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen and the Hizmet Movement as 'peace builders.'

The prominent academic, who has chaired an important institute in Russia concerning middle eastern affairs for fifteen years, expressed that Fethullah Gülen and the generations he has inspired make important contributions to the world. Ribakov said that the movement plays a key part in teaching youth the codes of morality and ethics, which he described as valuable components of education.
Ribakov also commended Gülen for his achievement in winning the Gandhi, King, Ikeda Prize which emphasizes the message of peace and non-violence, and promotes modern and worldly views.
The Russian academic slammed the allegations against Gülen as mere hearsay aiming to defame the scholar.
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is getting lonelier and this makes him more ill-tempered. There are two big risk areas for Erdoğan. One of them is the total war he declared against the Gülen movement for no apparent reason.
Can Erdoğan finish off the Gülen movement?
In other words, this is not a power struggle but a one-sided attack by an increasingly authoritarian leader on a civil society movement critical of the way government rules the nation.
In this asymmetrical fight, the Hizmet movement has nothing to lose. It is composed of individuals who are dedicated to doing something that they believe is for the good of humanity.
Arbitrary intrusions and dangerous liaisons
If the AKP leader can publicize the mistakes made during the Sledgehammer and Ergenekon trials and convince the public that these were committed by overzealous prosecutors linked to the Gülen movement, it will be easy for him to make a comparison with the corruption allegations against his government.

Once Erdogan declares the Gülen movement as national security threat, he will try to confiscate all schools, dormitories, foundations, institutions and universities associated with the Gülen movement and hand them over to his supporters to run a giant institution of networks to create “religious generations.”
Gulen wants Anatolian [interpretation of] Islam
What does Gulen say? He says: “Work hard and earn money, but be honest. Allah will reward your hard work and honesty. But do not squander that reward. Turn it into an investment and help others.” It sounds a lot like the Protestant work ethic. This is the underlying vision of capitalism. The Gulen Movement looks a lot like the Ottoman-era Ahi movement. It is a kind of a solidarity group that provides people with jobs, education, and reintegration into society.
